Aerospace Engineering Manager
FCI Aerospace provides flow, level, temperature and pressure measuring solutions for on-board aircraft installations. At FCI Aerospace we are looking for an Engineering Manager to head up the Aerospace Engineering group.
Position Purpose:
Under the general direction of the General Manager- The Engineering Manger is responsible for the leadership of the Engineering Department for the design, development, qualification and sustaining technical support of the sensor product lines in the Aerospace division.
Essential Job Functions (primary duties and outputs of position):
- Carries out and leads staff on professional engineering of scientific assignments concerned with development and design. Manage project engineers responsible for new business contracts.
- Develops and manages budgets and comprehensive estimates on first-time engineering work and establishes resource needs and schedule requirements.
- Conducts research to develop new or modified products, devices, equipment, systems methods, material or processes.
- Responsible for testing and validation of design and theoretical concepts either directly or through delegation. May oversee installation of methods and processes in production.
- Responsible for all aspects of continued technical support for existing part numbers and manufacturing processes.
- Ensures department staff provides root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Ensures the development of engineering drawings, bill of materials, bill of operations and all technical work instructions.
- Oversees, identifies and evaluates the work of outside service providers.
- Responsible for interviewing, selecting, hiring, training and development of department staff. Conducts performance/salary reviews. Addresses areas of required performance improvement.
- Interacts effectively with management in other departments to facilitate operations and resolve problems with emphasis on meeting company goals.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Five to seven years of project management experience.
- Two to three years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electronic, or electrical processes.
- Strong knowledge of controlled document processes.
- Knowledge of qualification testing procedures.
- Aerospace background preferred.
- Applicant must qualify for access to U.S. export-controlled technology without a license. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or a designated refugee under U.S. law.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
Skills/Abilities Required:
This position requires sitting and computer work a least 70% of the time. Standing and walking are required up to 30% of the time. May involve 10-15% travel.
