Hydrogen Gas Flow Measurement: Rising Up to the Challenge

Increasing demand for hydrogen is spurring the development of lower cost, energy efficient, and carbon-neutral production. While green hydrogen is the most desirable of the color spectrum, costs to produce hydrogen from renewable resources are higher than using natural gas. Blue and grey hydrogen production remain the most common sources at this time.

Within the process Industries, a good portion of the hydrogen used in refineries, ammonia plants, methanol plants and steel mills is derived from fossil fuels. There is also a push to blend hydrogen to increase the calorific value as a fuel source in the generation of electricity.
